Description:
The dying and the grieving have had so many things taken away from them: they feel robbed of all that used to give them meaning and strength. When our first form of communication with these clients is a problem-based assessment we reinforce their feelings of powerlessness. This program shows how we can revitalize and empower our clients through strength-based assessments. Examples of strength-based assessments are given with several case examples.

Objectives:

• List several advantages strength assessments have over problem assessments.
• Explain how strength assessments work with the grieving.
• Describe how strength assessments can enhance a client's/patient's psychological and spiritual well-being.
