Description:
This course explores the ethical underpinnings of certain core Hospice Conditions of Participation (CoP). From the perspective of our ethical ideals, our rationale for regulatory compliance need not be mere submissive response to "because we said so" command, but often can be living in accord with cherished values..

Objectives:

  • Identify three fundamental human rights proclaimed in U.S. founding documents and enforced in Hospice CoPs.
  • Describe five ethical principles commonly used in discussing health care ethics.
  • Discuss common ethical dilemmas. For resolving the dilemma, explore direction given in CoPs and by ethical principles.
