Description:
Grieving is complex process of making new meaning in a world
that is drastically changed after a loss. This workshop examines
the grief process, including current research and theory, specific
challenges to the bereaved, and differences between grief and
depression. The support needs of the bereaved and ways that
we can work to meet those needs will be discussed, along with
the unique challenges that working with grief pose for the professional
caregiver.
Objectives:
- Participant will Describe the normal grief process
- Participant will Identify key features distinguishing
earlier theoretical models from current understanding of
the grief process
- Participant will Describe intervention strategies for
caregivers when working with issues surrounding grief
