Description:
This session prepares members of the hospice interdisciplinary
team to help children or grandchildren of hospice patients.
This session outlines children's cognitive and emotional responses
to death, and ways that hospice staff can assist families
who have younger children and teens.
Objectives:
- Participant will list expected needs and worries of children
whose parents are hospice patients.
- Participant will articulate how children at various developmental
levels/ages are likely to understand death.
- Participant will list at least two (2) expected needs
and worries of parents who are hospice patients or their
spouses.
- Participant will identify at least three (3) ways that
hospice staff can help families coping with life-threatening
illnesses.
