Description:
Caring for patients and their loved ones at the end of life
is challenging both clinically and emotionally. This presentation
provides a realistic look at potential sources of stress and
burnout that may be experienced by hospice staff and volunteers.
The handouts included with this presentation provide creative
and useful tools for personal reflection and collaborative interdisciplinary
discussion.
Objectives:
- Identify two consequences to violating professional boundaries.
- List three 'red flags' that one might recognize in themselves
or others if they were having boundary issues.
- Name a risk and a benefit to working in hospice, with
dying patients.
- List three symptoms or consequences that one might recognize
in themselves or others if they were experiencing increased
stress.
