This course is part of HEN's "What You Need To Know and What You Need To Do" series of information that should be presented to hospice staff and volunteers annually.  Definitions and descriptions include Hazards Vulnerability Analysis; Emergency/Disaster Management Plans for Preparedness, Response, Recovery, and Mitigation; what a surveyor will look for; and additional resources from FEMA and OSHA.

OBJECTIVES:

  1. Identify at least 3 potential emergencies/disasters relevant to your hospice/palliative care service area.
  2. Describe what you need to know and do from your agency’s Emergency / Disaster Management Plan.
  3. Distinguish timeframes and actions for effectively managing emergencies and disasters.
