Description:
This course is designed to create a greater understanding
of the social worker's role in working with dyspneic patients
and families. Anxiety is often a major component of the dyspneic
patient and family's life and often spills over into the helpless
practitioner's life. Ways in which the social worker can assist
with managing such symptoms will be identified and explored.
Ideas and options for the family members to learn will also
be identified.
Objectives:
- Participant will identify ways to respond to the dyspneic
patient when the clinician feels helpless/hopeless
- Participant will explain calming techniques for the family
to utilize in times of high anxiety.
