Part 1: Get Ready. Get Smart. CR 5567 – The CMS Claims Visit Reporting Requirements

This course reviews CMS Change Request 5567, which requires hospices to report staff visits and charges on Medicare hospice claims for payment for services beginning July 1, 2008. It shares consensus interpretation of the refined requirements and approaches to addressing ongoing challenges. Emphasis will be placed on optimizing the strategic impact of CR 5567.

Part 2: Do It Now. Do It Right. CR 5567 – The Centerpiece for a Strong Data Strategy

This course complements CR 5567The CMS Claims Visit Reporting Series, going beyond the payment requirements to address how the specified data plays a key role in strong data-driven hospice management. A full understanding of staffing and other patient care resource utilization demands a broad set of consistently-captured and reported data. This course identifies data elements, discusses data management strategies, and demonstrates analysis that will help hospices both prove the value of their services and improve those services over time.

ABOUT THE CR 5567 REPORTING SERIES FACULTY
Martha Tecca is a healthcare measurement and management strategist, working with hospice and palliative care agencies, associations and vendors to accelerate the ability of organizations to demonstrate quality and value. She has been advancing data-driven management in hospice since 1997. She founded Perforum, the hospice industry’s only comprehensive benchmarking program, which later become OCS Hospice, part of the healthcare information solutions provider, Outcome Concept Systems, Inc. She has designed and implemented benchmark databases across the healthcare industry. She worked with the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) to develop the NHPCO National Data Set and the Quality Partners initiative. She is a board member of the American Hospice Foundation, and sits on the technical expert panel developing a hospice consumer report card.

Martha was Founding Partner of The Healthcare Management Council, Inc. (HMC), one of the healthcare industry’s first benchmarking programs. She also worked with Bain & Company, a leading strategy consulting firm, and Genzyme Corporation, now a major biotechnology company. She is co-author of The QAPI Requirement: Resources for Hospice Programs and is a frequent industry speaker and contributing writer. Martha holds an MBA from The Tuck School at Dartmouth College and a BA degree from Harvard University.
