Do I need to download any special software?
All you need to access HEN is an Internet
connection. HEN uses software already installed on most computers.
This includes: Windows 2000/2003/XP or Macintosh OS X, Windows
Media Player and a browser (Internet Explorer 6 or higher).
Depending on your software, some viewers may be asked to download
Silverlight. (At this time, you will not be able to use your Blackberry
or PDA to access HEN).Do I need any special hardware?
HEN will work on virtually any PC or Macintosh manufactured since 2000. Just make sure you have speakers attached to your computer and that the volume is turned on.
Do I need a high-speed
Internet connection?
HEN courses are optimized for high-speed Internet users and
broadband or DSL is necessary. You will need to disable any
spam or security blockers prior to viewing.
Once I start watching
a program, can I pause it?
The video controls you have while viewing a presentation allow
you to pause, rewind, fast-forward or search for a specific
topic you're interested in within the presentation.
How do we use HEN for new staff orientation?
When your hospice subscribes to HEN you will receive instructions
on how to get the most value from your HEN subscription for
new staff orientation.

HEN can be accessed by individual staff members or by groups
of staff wherever a high-speed Internet connection is available.
How do we use HEN for annual in-services?
Your annual subscription to HEN can include courses for annual in-services.

our selection of in-services that should or must be given annually as well as
in-services that may serve as enrichment for current staff. HEN also includes
in-services that will help fulfill the mandatory 12 hour annual in-service
requirements for hospice aides.
If we subscribe to HEN does that mean we no longer need to have anyone responsible for staff education?
It is not the intention of HEN to replace hospice personnel.
Rather, our goal is to make things easier and provide high-quality
programming and information that will ease the burden of developing
and delivering effective educational programs.
Why should we choose HEN rather than one
of the other online learning programs out there?
HEN offers the best information, the best technology and the
best prices. Also, HEN is developed specifically and exclusively
for hospice programs. With HEN you do not have to pay for and
wade through lots of courses for home health agencies hoping
to find something relevant to hospices. What HEN offers is ALWAYS
relevant to hospices. In addition, CEs for nurses and social
workers are provided for many HEN courses and are included in the cost of a
subscription to HEN.Does HEN help us document and keep track of education provided to staff?
Included with your subscription to HEN are administrative
tools that will enable you to keep track of which courses
your staff and volunteers have viewed, how well they did on
the post-tests and reports that can be used to track and document
all training provided to your staff and volunteers.
How do I receive my certificate of
completion?
After viewing your program, you can click the "post test"
button inside the course. Immediately before the post
test is presented, you will be asked to complete an evaluation
of the course. Once that is complete, the post test is
automatic.
If you achieve a 70% or greater on the post test of
any course, your certificate is immediately generated and
placed into the "certificate" section of the viewer login. You
can either print the document or save it to your computer.

What if I require
disability accommodations to view a HEN course?
Viewers in need of special accommodation for disability
are instructed to contact the HEN Administrator at their organization
to access HEN courses.
If I
should need to lodge a complaint or grievance, who do I contact?
In the unlikely event that you experience difficulty with
any HEN course, please contact our support specialists. You
can expect to receive follow up within 24 hours and not later
than 48 hours. Should you wish to lodge a complaint or grievance
regarding HEN, you will receive verbal acknowledgement of
your complaint or grievance within 24-48 hours and a written
response outlining HEN's investigation and outcome within
7 days.
What
happens if I order a course and then decide its not right for
our hospice?
If you decide after initialization that a course is not
right for your hospice, we will gladly exchange the course for
another one of the same price, provided that none of your
viewers have generated CEs or Contact Hours by completing a
post test.
