HEN's Video Streaming Technology

This program is being broadcast over the Hospice Education Network using our state-of-the-art technology, which allows you to watch and listen to presenters while you view their slide presentation. You can pause the presentation at any time, re-play portions if you wish and even search through slides for a particular topic of interest.

You do not need any special software to view this program. Only Windows Media Player (version 9 or higher, or Microsoft Silverlight Player) and Internet Explorer (or other browser) are required. The program can also be accessed using a Mac with Silverlight Player. A high speed Internet connection (DSL or greater) is required to view the presentation. Once the viewer window opens it should take only a few seconds for the video to start streaming.

Troubleshooting

Very few viewers will experience problems accessing programs broadcasted over HEN. If for some reason the video and audio do not start or do not run smoothly on your computer, there are several steps you can take to correct the problems you may be experiencing.

  • If the video does not start at all, make certain that your network firewall permits access to video streamed content (some organizations block video stream content or limit the network bandwidth avaibale to video streams). If you have access to technical staff, please check with them.
  • If the video starts but does not run smoothly or the audio breaks up, you are most likely using an older version of Windows Media Player. You can upgrade Windows Media Player for free by going to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download or upgrade to Microsft Silverlight Player for free by going to http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight/get-started/install/default.aspx
  • If you are using a pop-up blocker and can not access the video stream, please turn the blocker off.

If you continue to experience problems, you can contact HEN at support@hospiceonline.com
